Where should we meet?
All of my work is done on location - homes, parks, or just around town. The location is your choice! There are so many options here in Richmond. I love shooting in my clients homes, because kids are always at ease and wardrobe changes are a cinch with your closet right there! Locations in town are always fun too though. We're lucky to live in such a beautiful city with beautiful parks, scenic neighborhoods, gritty city spots and everything inbetween.
What are portrait sessions like?
If we meet at your home, I'll poke around your house a bit to get a feel for the space. Just let me know if there are any spots you don't want to use - sometimes my favorite shots are in the kitchen or a bedroom! If it's a family session, I'll let your kids show me around. It's a great way to get them comfortable, and they know all the good nooks and crannies. If we meet someplace in town - we'll find a spot we like, take some shots, and then just wander and explore.
How long does the session last?
Plan for a couple of hours. Depending on the specifics and location, it might be a little more or less, but two hours generally allows time for a change of clothes or a change of scenery. Newborn sessions typically go a bit slower, and toddler sessions might go a bit quicker. If we're taking pictures of children - they're the boss!
What should I wear?
The best pictures are in the clothes you feel best in. I don't have too many rules. Generally speaking I prefer wearing complimentary outfits to matching ones. I also love colors that feel like a part of the season. Pictures are a great excuse to go shopping - people always feel great in something new. Oh, and don't forget about shoes - comfy or killer - make sure they're fun!
Can I have the digital files?
Absolutely! You can select a package which includes the complete session files, or add on just the files you'd like. I also offer prints, frames, canvases, image boxes, albums, custom cards - and more.
When are you available?
I schedule sessions on Saturday mornings or afternoon. I book up quickly, so it's good to plan about a month or two in advance!
